foreUP describes itself as "The industry's first modern, cloud-based, comprehensive golf management system. For golfers, by golfers." Its About page says that "In 2012, we created the industry's first-ever cloud-based tee sheet software" and that it "serves over 2,000 golf courses". Per foreupgolf.com, checked October 22, 2026, the homepage says "Trusted by 2,000+ golf courses" and invites operators to "Join over 2,300 courses and clubs".
foreUP's product line runs from the tee sheet and golf POS to food and beverage, billing, a branded mobile app, tournaments, course maintenance and AI-powered business intelligence, so golf operators who search for foreUP alternatives are usually checking one requirement rather than replacing everything. The most common: a course comparing tee sheet and POS platforms at renewal; a private or country club that wants native club accounting and a deeper member back office; and a multi-club operator that wants membership sales, e-signed agreements and benefits that follow the member across clubs. This page compares seven platforms on those points, with every fact linked to the vendor's own site.
How this page was researched. Every vendor fact was read from that vendor's own website in October 2026 and is linked in a Source note. Where a vendor's pages don't say something, we say so rather than guess. Club Steward is Ardn's own platform, so it is labelled as ours wherever it appears. No ratings or review counts are quoted.
foreUP at a glance: the baseline
Before comparing alternatives, here is what foreUP says about itself on its own website, in its own words. These are the capabilities an alternative has to match or deliberately trade away.
- Who it is for: golf courses, "from Mom-and-Pop to multi-course operations and everything in between", per the About page. The homepage says "Specializing in golf since 2012" and "Trusted by 2,000+ golf courses"; it also says "Join over 2,300 courses and clubs".
- Products named on the site: Business Intelligence, Golf Course Maintenance, Food & Beverage, Tee Sheet Software, Branded Mobile App, Email & Text Marketing, Time-Based Reservations, Tournament Management, Tee Sheet + ("Tiers that enhance your favorite award-winning features"), Golf Course Point of Sale and Billing, plus services for payments, ads, managed marketing and websites "hosted on foreUP servers".
- Tee sheet: "We invented the cloud-based tee sheet"; a toggle to require prepayment for online booking (by saved credit card, gift card or raincheck), automated reminders and mass tee-sheet texts, back-nine booking and split tees, alerts that "prevent double-bookings", and tee times aligned "with sunrise and sunset".
- Point of sale: an integrated customer database, inventory audits, "Integrated gift cards, passes, punch cards, and gift certificates", employee permissions, and "viewing, reports, databases, and more for multiple courses all from one central account". foreUP says it is "PCI and PII compliant".
- Food and beverage and billing: table and section layouts, split tickets and tips, kitchen and bar printing, and gift cards usable between departments. Billing lets clubs "Schedule invoices, set automatic payments, and add convenience fees", put a household's charges on one statement, and run billing groups; members can update autopay and check their F&B minimum in a mobile-friendly portal.
- Business Intelligence: "built-in, AI-powered dashboards that eliminate the need for third-party tools", pulling tee sheet, F&B, pro shop and billing data into one view, with forecasting "based on real historical data" and "customizable anomaly detection".
- Payments, hardware and support: "As a payment facilitator, foreUP provides one trusted partner to handle all your course's payment needs"; it runs on "just about any hardware that supports the Chrome browser (PC, Mac, iPad, Android, etc)"; and support calls and emails are "answered by our US-based reps", with the site describing calls answered "in under one minute, 7 days a week".
- Accounting and integrations: accounting runs through integrations rather than a native general ledger. The Partner Integrations page lists QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Xero, NetSuite, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics 365, FreshBooks and Zoho, alongside tee-time, pricing, mobile-app and range partners; the homepage says it integrates "with over 25 of the industry's best providers".
- Pricing: not published. The foreupgolf.com/pricing page returned a 404 when we checked; an archived foreUP pricing page priced modules individually with "Starting at" prices.

Why clubs look at foreUP alternatives
foreUP is an established golf operations platform, and most operators who evaluate alternatives are checking a specific requirement rather than looking for something smaller. The reasons that come up most often:
- Native club accounting: foreUP connects to QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics and others rather than offering its own general ledger. Private and country clubs that want accounts payable, a general ledger and bank reconciliation inside the club system tend to shortlist Jonas Club Software, Clubessential, Northstar or Club Steward, which describe native accounting on their own sites.
- Membership sales and e-signed agreements: foreUP's app and portal sell memberships, gift cards and passes, and its billing handles household statements and autopay. A membership sales pipeline and e-signature of a membership agreement are not stated on the foreUP pages we reviewed. Clubs that sell memberships with a signed contract often want both in the same system as billing.
- Published pricing and terms: foreUP's current pricing page returns a 404. Some operators prefer a vendor that states its terms on its own site: Lightspeed Golf publishes "No Long-Term Contract" and pay-as-you-go terms, and Club Caddie describes a monthly fee. Neither publishes a price list, so a written quote is still needed.
- Private-club depth: foreUP's pages centre on golf course operations. Clubs with dining reservations, courts, spa, marina or lodging alongside golf often compare private-club suites such as Clubessential, Jonas Club Software or Northstar, which describe those modules on their own sites.
- A portfolio of clubs on one member record: foreUP describes reports and databases for multiple courses from one central account. Operators with several private or semi-private clubs sometimes also want quantified benefits (rounds, guest passes, dining discounts) drawn down automatically at whichever club the member plays, and reports scoped by region, demonstrated on their own data.

Each foreUP alternative in detail

Ardn's own platform for multi-club golf and country club operators.

- Dues run on autopay by card or US bank account (ACH), with a prorated first period, failed-payment retries that never charge twice, statements with finance charges and food and beverage minimums.
- Club-level isolation is enforced in the database with row-level security on every table, with more than 550 permissions granted per role and per club, field history, an audit log and a 30-day recycle bin.

foreUP vs Club Steward: where each one fits
Club Steward is Ardn's own platform, so read this section as the vendor's view, checked against both products' own pages. foreUP's own pages put revenue at the tee sheet: online prepayment to reduce no-shows, back-nine and split-tee booking, automated reminders, a golf POS with passes and punch cards, and AI-powered business intelligence across tee sheet, F&B and retail. That is a strong fit for public and semi-private courses that sell most of their revenue one round at a time.
Club Steward starts from the member and the portfolio. Its product pages describe a membership sales desk (a shared lead pool with SLA escalation, a pipeline by stage and a tour board), a six-step online join from each club's own website (plan, household, dues and add-ons, sign, autopay, pay), contracts with built-in e-signature where payment is blocked until the agreement is signed, and one member record across every club, with reports scoped automatically for corporate, regional VPs and GMs. The tee sheet, point of sale, dues billing and accounting are modules on the same record.
- Tee sheet: foreUP describes prepayment, back-nine and split-tee booking, reminders and sunrise/sunset alignment. Club Steward describes rate grids (peak, off-peak, guest, twilight, member and public), booking windows by tier, a waitlist, standing tee times, a weekend lottery, starter, ranger and bag-room screens with pace of play, and rain checks and no-show rules applied automatically.
- Billing: foreUP describes scheduled invoices, autopay, convenience fees, household statements and F&B minimums in the member portal. Club Steward describes autopay by card or US bank account (ACH), a prorated first period, failed-payment retries that never charge twice, and statements with finance charges and food and beverage minimums.
- Analytics: foreUP describes AI-powered forecasting and anomaly detection. Club Steward describes tee-sheet utilization, revenue per available tee time, no-show rate and member/guest/public mix calculated from the bookings, and a corporate view comparing every club side by side.
- Accounting: foreUP integrates with QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Sage and others. Club Steward's Accounting Suite add-on describes a general ledger, payables and receivables per club or consolidated, bank reconciliation, budgets and period close.
- Operating model: foreUP describes US-based support reps. Club Steward is run for you by Ardn as a managed service, with a US-based team and a 4-hour response SLA.
Switching from foreUP: what to plan for
Most of the work in any golf software move is getting customer and member data out cleanly, rebuilding rates and booking rules, and retraining staff before the season. The checklist below applies to every alternative on this page.
Start by asking foreUP how an export of customers, members, billing groups, open balances, gift card, pass and punch card balances, and sales history is delivered, and in what format. Then ask each alternative what it imports, and which history stays reportable rather than archived.
- Stored value: list every gift card, pass, punch card and raincheck balance type you sell through foreUP, and confirm the new platform can carry each one, or plan to honor them through a transition period.
- Payments: foreUP acts as a payment facilitator. Ask both sides whether saved cards and autopay details can be migrated or whether members must re-enter them, because that decides how much member communication the switch needs.
- Integrations: list every foreUP partner integration you use (dynamic pricing, mobile apps, pace of play, ranges, tee-time marketplaces) and confirm the alternative supports an equivalent.
- Accounting: if foreUP posts to QuickBooks, Xero, Sage or NetSuite today, decide whether you will keep that ledger (Lightspeed Golf and Club Caddie also describe accounting integrations) or move to a native club general ledger (Jonas, Clubessential, Northstar or Club Steward's Accounting Suite).
- Websites and apps: if foreUP hosts your website or branded app, plan redirects from old addresses and a date to retire the old app. Club Steward sets up permanent redirects from each club's old web addresses so existing rankings carry over, and each club gets its own installable member app.
- Phasing: for several courses, ask whether one course can go live while the others stay on foreUP. Club Steward turns modules on per club, so one club can go live while the rest of a portfolio carries on as it is today.
How to run a fair foreUP alternatives evaluation
Shortlist three platforms, including foreUP itself if you are at renewal, and ask each vendor to demonstrate the same scenarios on your data. A useful set: a prepaid online booking that is cancelled and re-filled; a Saturday shotgun or league block next to public tee times; a food-and-beverage tab charged to a member account that lands on the household statement; a membership sold online through a signed agreement and first payment; and a month-end report by department and by course.
Ask for a written quote by module and by course, including implementation, data migration, hardware, payment processing rates, support level and contract length. foreUP does not currently publish prices, and none of the seven alternatives on this page publishes full pricing, so written quotes on the same scope are the only way to compare like for like.
Finally, decide on the operating model before comparing feature lists: software your own team runs, with vendor support, or a platform run for you as a managed service, which is how Ardn runs Club Steward.
foreUP alternatives: frequently asked questions
What are the best foreUP alternatives?
For public and semi-private golf, the closest alternatives on this page are Lightspeed Golf and Club Caddie, which are built around the tee sheet, POS and food and beverage, with accounting through integrations. For private and country clubs that want native accounting, Jonas Club Software, Clubessential and Northstar are the established suites. Club Steward by Ardn (our own platform) is built for multi-club operators that want membership sales, e-signed contracts and one member record across clubs. Club Automation by Daxko serves fitness, racquet and multi-purpose clubs rather than golf.
How much does foreUP cost?
foreUP does not publish current prices: its pricing page returned a 404 when we checked on October 22, 2026. An archived foreUP pricing page priced modules individually with "Starting at" prices, so expect a per-module quote. Among the alternatives, Lightspeed Golf publishes its terms (quote-based, no long-term contract, pay-as-you-go), Club Caddie describes a monthly fee, and Club Automation says most plans are 12-month or multi-year agreements. Does foreUP have its own accounting, and which alternatives do?
foreUP lists accounting software integrations, including QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Xero, NetSuite, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics 365, FreshBooks and Zoho, rather than a native general ledger. Jonas Club Software, Clubessential and Northstar describe native club accounting on their own sites, and Club Steward's Accounting Suite add-on includes a general ledger, payables and receivables per club or consolidated. Lightspeed Golf and Club Caddie, like foreUP, describe syncing to accounting software.
Which foreUP alternatives work best for multiple courses?
On their own sites: Club Caddie describes single sign-on across a portfolio and memberships spanning facilities and regions; Lightspeed Golf describes multi-site memberships, packages redeemable at any course and Business Intelligence across all courses or one; Northstar supports multi-club, multi-course and multi-property organizations; and Club Steward keeps one member record across every club with reports scoped by region. foreUP itself describes viewing, reports and databases for multiple courses from one central account.
Which foreUP alternatives include e-signature for membership agreements?
On the pages we reviewed: Club Steward by Ardn includes e-signed contracts inside the online join and the in-person tablet checkout, with payment blocked until the agreement is signed. Club Automation describes digital contracts and waivers linked to the member's profile. Club Caddie offers a digital cart waiver, and Lightspeed Golf offers waivers through the third-party eGolf Waiver integration. The foreUP, Jonas, Clubessential and Northstar pages we reviewed do not describe membership e-signature.
Is Club Steward a neutral entry on this page?
No. Club Steward is Ardn's own golf and country club platform, and it is labelled as ours wherever it appears. Its facts come from the Club Steward product and features pages, and every competitor fact comes from that competitor's own website, linked in a Source note.
