HubSpot’s Reporting Add-On: A Second Fee on Top

HubSpot’s custom report builder — single-object and funnel reports across contacts, companies, deals, and tickets — is bundled into Professional and Enterprise tier subscriptions across most Hubs at no additional charge. But HubSpot also sells a separate, standalone Reporting Add-On, reported at roughly $200 per month, that layers unified cross-object dashboards and pre-built executive reporting on top of whatever tier a customer is already on. It’s a genuinely distinct fee from the bundled builder, and it’s easy to conflate the two when budgeting.
Two different things both called “reporting”
- The bundled custom report builder is included with Professional-tier-and-up subscriptions and lets users build single-object or funnel reports from properties already in the account — no extra fee required.
- The standalone Reporting Add-On is sold separately, available to any customer regardless of tier, and is built around unified dashboards that combine marketing and sales reporting into one interface — team-level and executive-level views spanning multiple Hubs at once.
- The add-on is priced independently of Hub tier. A customer on Starter and a customer on Enterprise both pay the same reported add-on rate for it, since it isn’t gated by (or bundled into) the underlying Hub subscription tier the way the basic builder is.
- The overlap is exactly where confusion happens. Because both tools are called “reporting” and both build on the same underlying properties, it’s straightforward to assume the add-on is required to get custom reports at all — when Professional-and-up customers already have meaningful reporting capability bundled in.
Where the add-on genuinely earns its cost
For an organization that needs one unified view spanning marketing, sales, and service data across multiple Hubs — an executive dashboard pulling from tools that would otherwise require separate reports stitched together manually — the add-on’s cross-object dashboard capability is real functionality the bundled builder doesn’t replicate on its own.
Bundled builder vs. standalone add-on
| Bundled custom report builder | Reporting Add-On | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Included with Professional tier and up | Separate monthly fee, reported around $200/mo |
| Scope | Single-object and funnel reports | Unified cross-Hub dashboards, executive views |
| Tier dependency | Gated by Hub subscription tier | Available regardless of Hub tier |
Where the fix actually lives
Before adding the standalone Reporting Add-On, it’s worth confirming whether the bundled custom report builder already covers what’s actually needed — many teams reaching for unified dashboards are trying to solve a data-silo problem that a bundled report, or a custom-built reporting layer reading directly from the CRM API, can also solve without an ongoing per-month add-on fee. See HubSpot custom objects’ Enterprise-only gating for another feature-gate worth auditing before assuming an upgrade or add-on is the only path, and how to reduce CRM licensing costs for the general audit approach.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need the Reporting Add-On to build any custom reports at all?
No — if your Hub subscription is Professional tier or above, the custom report builder for single-object and funnel reports is already included at no extra cost. The add-on is specifically for unified, cross-object dashboard views.
Is the add-on’s price the same across every Hub tier?
Reported pricing describes it as a flat fee available regardless of tier, rather than a tier-gated feature — but confirm current pricing directly with HubSpot, since add-on pricing is more likely to change than core Hub tier pricing.
Can a custom-built dashboard replace the add-on entirely?
For teams with development resources, a dashboard built against the HubSpot API can replicate much of the cross-object view the add-on provides, without the recurring add-on fee — though it takes on the build and maintenance work the add-on otherwise handles.
